Hi Everyone,
I am hoping that my previous blogs
on how to become vegan- step by step guide to veganism and do's and don'ts got
you on track on how to become vegan.
A lot of people have been asking me
for substitute recipes for normal dishes , especially ones that use dairy
products - milk and yogurt. The hardest part is usually for vegans to find
economic substitutes for these products. I personally found it extremely hard
to switch from normal yellow Amul butter to Extra Virgin Olive Oil(although it
is super duper healthy). However, switching to Olive Oil has been one of the
best things that has ever happened to me. It has made me lose around 4 kilos
without any additional workout , it is super healthy and has no side effects.
Additionally, the amount of olive oil used instead of butter is much lesser.
This is my own tried and tested
recipe. I have eaten these pancakes and have made my whole non-vegan family try
them. They could literally not even guess that these pancakes are a 100% vegan.
And this definitely means this recipe is a total success.
So, in this post I will give a
super simple 5 INGREDIENT pancake recipe.
And trust this recipe is extremely
basic, you don't need to even do very specific measurements. I personally have
stopped measuring and just use the amount that seems to make the consistency
fine.
What's special about this pancake?
1. It is super healthy
2. It is extremely quick and can
be made in under 7 minutes.
3. It is totally vegan - No eggs
and no butter
4. Everything you need can be
easily found in your home.
5. No added sugar or any
substitute of sugar!!!
Ingredients required for this
pancake:
1. WHEAT
FLOUR - You can use wheat flour, or oats, or all purpose
flour(maida). Any flour readily
available can be used. No restrictions here.
2.
CHOCOLATE FLOURED SOY MILK - You must use chocolate flavored
milk for these pancakes, as it is already sweetened,
and since it will give an inbuilt flavor of chocolate to the pancake. Trust me
on this one! No substitutes on this.
3.
VANILLA ESSENCE - This will give a nice vanilla flavor and
scent to the pancake. If you don't have it you can skip on this.
4. BANKING
POWDER - Banking powder is a much needed ingredient. It is
needed in small quantities but is necessary for the fluffiness of the pancake
and so that it is not completely flat.
5.OLIVE
OIL - Olive oil will not be added to the pancake, it will be
used only for cooking and ensuring that the pancake does not stick to the pan.
The portions are as follows:
1 cup - Wheat Flour
3 cup - Chocolate Soy Milk
3 drops - Vanilla Essence
1.5 tea spoon - Baking Powder
1 table spoon - Olive Oil (for each
pancake)
So, here we is the process to be
followed for the pancake recipe:
STEP 1 -
Take a large mixing bowl, take a
cup of wheat flour and add it to the mixing bowl. Now, take 3 equal quantities
of chocolate soy milk and add it to the flour in the mixing bowl.
Now, mix the milk in the flour till
it is consistent. Make sure to get rid of any lumps which might occur while you
are mixing.
STEP 2 -
Now add vanilla essence to this,
and mix again with a cake beater. Make sure the vanilla essence is mixed properly
, and the color is no more visible. After this add the baking powder and mix
it.
You can let it sit for 2 minutes .
The Pancake mix is ready !!!!!
STEP 3 -
Till the pancake mix is sitting
aside, turn up the non-stick pan , and add a spoon of olive oil to the pan, and
let it heat for a while. You can spread the oil all over the center of the pan.
You might be surprised at the use of olive oil here, but olive oil will not
spoil the taste of the pancake. Infact , when the pancake is properly cooked
then you will not be even able to smell the oil.
STEP 4 -
Now, turn on the gas or the induction
and take a large spoon to pour the pancake mix smoothly on the pan. Make sure
you take a large amount and slowly pour it in the center. Then try to spread it
from the back side of the spoon.
so that it takes the shape of a
pancake. Let it heat for about 3 minutes till it is all set together, then you
can flip it with a spatula to the other side. This will help you ensure that
both sides are heated and the pancake is well cooked. We want to make sure that
it is not uncooked from the inside. Voila!
Your pancake is ready to be eaten.
It is best to eat it hot, you can
add maple syrup, bananas and strawberries and lead your way to a healthy
breakfast and a healthy lifestyle.
The option that I like is home made
vegan Nutella with sliced bananas and nuts.
You can even pour some ice cream on
top of the pancake, make sure the ice cream is vegan. In case you are
flexitarian or not a hard core vegan yet, you can just go for any usual syrup
like Nutella, Hershey’s chocolate syrup, caramel sauce etc. You can also try
blueberries if those are available in your area.
There
is absolutely no need to buy an expensive pancake mix. This is a great
breakfast or snack recipe especially during the pandemic, when we are avoiding
eating food from cafes. Just because you don’t eat pancakes at your favourite
diner anymore, doesn’t mean you can’t eat at home. That too at 10% of the
price. I am sure everyone in the family will love it for a Sunday breakfast.
Note the following:
The gas should be on sim, or the
temperature on the induction should be kept quite low, because heating it
quickly will make the batter stick to the pan.
Super Easy Right !!!!
